About SGM History
SGM History is for the preservation of “southern gospel music.” We hope, with your help, to have an ongoing development of the history of this genre of Christian Music. SGM History will be dependant upon you, the fan, the historian, the artist, to help us preserve and educate the public on “southern gospel music.”

What Is Southern Gospel Music
“Southern Gospel Music” is characterized by balanced full voice harmony (with some exceptions); lyrics that address biblical topics (redemption, Heaven, evangelism, etc.); rural diction common to the southern United States and country/bluegrass/piano influenced accompaniment.
